Mmm ... Goldfish n ... MILK?
Here's one from the ol' "it makes sense to me because I'm two" bag. To be fair, she did say she wanted to eat some Goldfish crackers earlier that morning. I just had no idea she wanted it in this configuration. I guess in her defense, she did already have two cups of regular old boring Cheerios and milk. I suppose it was time to mix it up a little. Please leave a comment if you've personally ever done this because I would love to hear more about it.
Oh yeah let's file this one under stuff that we do when Mama's not around.

Nothing goes unscathed ...
when JKL is around. Even if you're an inert object like this poor ceramic turtle in the video below, you will find a way to make her mad as long as you're in her line of sight. But the turtle's only half of it. Check out what happens to me (innocent cameraman) towards the end!

Baba gets scolded ... again (caught on tape)
I'm posting this video so everyone can bear witness to a typical tongue lashing that is regularly dished out by our resident disciplinarian, Josie Kaye Lau. Whether it's me not putting my shoes away, throwing something inside the house, or just breathing in general, I'm always causing some kind of trouble in her eyes. Some of the things that comes out of her mouth often leaves us speechless and wondering where exactly she's learning this stuff from. Couple that with a generous portion of sassiness and here's what you get.
Oh and this was only a portion of her little episode. I was feeding Mui Mui and couldn't get to my phone right away to capture the entire thing. For the record, she started out by saying "you ruined my life ... go eat your hotdog" and then repeatedly shouted "you're not leaving this tower ever!" By the way that line is from the movie Tangled where Mother Gothel screams at Rapunzel for trying to convince her to let her go see the lanterns.
For those that were having trouble with the Vimeo one above, here's the YouTube version.

Cow Appreciation Day
We're still recovering from a tiring but fun weekend. I wanted to put up a quick post while I sort through pictures for the next update from Jordin's 1 month old Chinese celebration in Virginia. It was a throughly hot and exhausting day, but it was good to see everyone again.
So before we went down to Virginia Saturday, we had something equally important (if not more) to celebrate on Friday. It happens once a year and there's nothing short of the world coming to an end which will get in my way of taking part. So what was it? A birthday? An Anniversary? Negative. It was Cow Appreciation Day @ Chick-fil-A, that's what. What does that mean? It's quite simple actually. Dress up a like a cow and get free food. We've been doing it for a few years now, and it's truly a win win. Josie loves doing it and we love to eat there. Also, it's much less loser-ish now than it used to be now that I have little ones to do this with.

Intro/Jordin Kaye Lau - F.A.Q.
We're back everyone! After much noodling, I finally decided to retire the Josie blog. Don't worry, we didn't get rid of her (yet) ... It's just now that little Jordin is here, I saw a good opportunity to craft a new blog that was more formal and Lau family centric. And besides, with a catchy name like Laugh Out Lau, how can I NOT use that? I hope you all like the new minimalistic layout. Along with the layout change, I also changed the way that pictures are delivered. Doing it this way allows me to post a lot more pictures (isn't that why you're here) without taking up much real estate. With that said, I hope you enjoy our new site.
So we're heading into week 4 since little Jordin's arrival. To be honest, things haven't changed all that much around here. Sure there are times when we scramble to get to the girls when they both simultaneously meltdown, but that's why there's two of us right? And yea we don't get as much downtime as we've grown accustomed to since Josie has grown older, but I'd gladly give up any and all "me time" in the world to be with my little girls.
Since Jordin's been born, we've gotten many congratulations and well wishes. The out pouring of love from all of our friends and family after having a baby is pretty awesome. I completely forgot how generous everyone is during this time. People offer to do all sorts of stuff for us! What I also forgot is how much everyone is curious about the same set of topics once they start asking about us. As a result, I've put together a little Jordin Kaye Lau F.A.Q. (frequently asked questions) which will address the most common questions that we get asked within the first 1-2 minutes of engaging in a conversation. Check it out.

- How's the new baby?
Jordin, or mui mui as she's referred to around here, is doing great. Her check up from the other week showed that she has regained all the weight that she originally lost during the first days, and then some. She's sleeping a lot (what else is she going to do) and is eating a healthy amount. During the first week she ate like crazy. I remember there was one night when she put away 5 oz like it was nothing. Recently though, she's started to get fussy during eating and that ultimately affects her general happiness. We're trying to figure out if it's the bottles or the formula that's not agreeing with her. Overall she's a happy little girl once she's full and changed. Oh ... she does NOT like to be changed. - You guys getting any sleep?
I mean ... I'm sleeping the same. Actually, I'm sleeping more than before baby number 2 arrived. I sleep whenever I get to put Josie to bed. I sleep during work, after work, basically anytime that I get a chance to get some shuteye. But in all seriousness, I'm not the one that's getting up at night (unless it's to pee.) On a good night, Jordin will sleep for 4-5 hours before she wakes up and needs to eat. On a less than ideal night, she'll either wake up frequently, or she just won't fall asleep until the wee hours of the night. Mama is the one that gets to deal with all that. I simply wouldn't be able to function during the day if I was tasked with that. But it's not to say I haven't sacraficed sleep. About a week ago, Josie started freaking out right around midnight everynight waking up screaming and yelling. The only way to calm her down was for one of us to go over to her room and stay with her for the rest of the night. No one got much sleep during those few nights. That got old real quick and we made it clear to her that it was to stop. So far ... so good. We shall see. - Is Josie a good big sister?
Josie's been a great big sister ever since she realized that there was a baby in Mama's belly. I remember her constantly telling us how she'll take care of mui mui and share this, that, and the other with her. All this was before mui mui was even born. It's quite amazing how natural she is with all of this. It melts my heart to see just how much she loves her baby sister. It's the cutest yet scariest thing in the world to see Josie hold baby Jordin. She understands the whole supporting and propping her head up concept, but she's so ADHD that the second something else catches her attention, mui mui is quickly left in a blob-like state only to fend for herself. But on the other hand, guess who's the first to come running to her rescue the moment mui mui starts crying and fussing? Yup ... you got it.
